Short-term effects of Brown v. Board

 Turmoil

Picture
There was some mixed feelings to the desegregation of schools by whites and blacks and whites alike. Whites were either on one side or the other. Blacks, overall, felt it was a good thing, but some felt that saying black children weren't getting a good education was saying something bad about black teachers. Not to mention the fact that there were a lot of black teachers who were now out lf business. On the other hand, some people, mostly blacks, felt that the desegregation was a bad thing because it was only schools that were desegregated, nowhere else.

Not Much Had Changed

The effects of the desegregation didn't happen very quicky. It seemed not to be happening at all. Since it was only schools that were desegregated, blacks couldn't get the same job opportunities as whites, so they didnt make as much money and basically stayed in the same area. Most schools had converted to integration, but there were many little factors that kept them apart.
